Chicago event sanitation and permit checklist
Use this checklist to organize sanitation details before you apply or contact the venue. The issuing agency—not this site—controls current requirements and approval.
Prepare an event sanitation planStart with the venue and its official process
For a Chicago Park District location, start at Permits & Rentals 101. Use its current links to the outdoor event or facility process that matches the planned use. A different venue or jurisdiction may have a different process.
Ask the issuing agency what approvals, documents, deadlines and vendor details it needs. The page below is a preparation checklist; it does not decide permit eligibility or grant permission.
Gather these details before applying
- Venue and intended use, expected attendance, dates and operating hours.
- Setup and teardown dates, vendor arrival and pickup windows.
- Existing restroom access and the proposed portable-sanitation arrangement.
- Accessible paths and facilities, handwashing and supply arrangements.
- Truck route, placement location, servicing access and any effects on public paths.
- Questions about food, alcohol, sound, structures or other activities to put to the issuing authority.
Carry a simple site sketch and a list of open questions. Obtain placement permission from the appropriate venue or property contact before confirming delivery.
Confirm the current requirements directly
Application links, fees and deadlines can change. Use the authority’s current process rather than a downloaded application from a previous season. This guide does not reproduce a fee schedule or promise an approval time.
For construction context, the City of Chicago Building Permits dataset is a public records resource, not a sanitation permit determination or proof that a particular provider is approved. Last reviewed: 2026-10-04; the City controls current records.
Review the full event sanitation setup, then plan the sanitation setup before applying.
Keep the details together.
Chicago Site Sanitation helps customers plan and request portable sanitation service. With your permission, your request may be shared with an independent service provider that can evaluate availability and the job details. A request is not a confirmed booking, price, delivery time, or compliance determination.
